The key suspect in the brutal murder of gay activist and fashion designer Edwin Kiptoo Chiloba has been described by family members and friends as a humble and respectful son of a church leader.
Those who spoke to the press yesterday said they know Jacktone Odhiambo as a kind man who was grew up in a Christian family.
They revealed that Mr Odhiambo’s father is a respected clergyman and chairman of Nyumba Kumi initiative in Huruma estate, Eldoret.
“He is always a reserved and respectful person. It is sad that he is now the prime suspect in the murder of gay activist Edwin Chiloba and this has shocked everybody,” Mr Joseph Wanjala, one of the locals, said when homicide sleuths toured the family’s home in Kahoya to establish the last moments of the activist.
“As family members, we cannot defend our kids when they are linked to such criminal offences. It is good for probators to do their work and nab everyone linked to the activist’s brutal death and ensure justice is served.”
The sleuths never authorised journalists to spoke to relatives of Mr Odhiambo who were with him during the interview.
Mr Odhiambo, who was handcuffed and a white hazmat suit, was in Eldoret helping sleuths identify items belonging to Edwin Chiloba
The sleuths recovered clothes and other items belonging to Chiloba.
Chiloba’s body was found in a box on the Kipenyo-Kaptinga road in Kapsaret on Wednesday.
