The police boss for the Rift Valley region has admitted that cattle raiders had stolen a unknown amount of cattle. In a statement where he gave information about the ongoing Operation to recover them, Natembeya has said that so fat they have recovered 800 cattles which had been stolen in the past one week.
Though he never admitted that the police are easily overwhelmed. It is evident that an ongoing Operation in the region is not bearing any fruits. More and more livestock are getting lost each day. Though he linked drought, poverty and illitracy to the cause of the acts. The people from these regions believe that the police are reluctant and not equipped to respond to their desperate cries of help.
The people are now left without a source of livelihood as their economic activity is getting disrupted by the raiders. The raiders are oftenly equipped and uses their power to subdue the hearders.
