"Police officers on patrol in Kisauni Sub-Mjambere County's ward detained five youngsters belonging to an organized criminal group known as the 'Panga Boys' this morning." According to the Service, the five are Abdul Shakur Charo, Lukman Said Salim, Omar Rajab Omar, Masuud Mohammed Bwana, and Nahim Akinyi Ongut.
The deadly gang's name "Panga Boys" comes from their favorite weapon, the Panga, according to the Service (machetes). According to reports, the five gang members were on a mission to perpetrate crimes in Kisauni's Soko Mjinga Area.
The gangsters were disarmed and their firearms were recovered by the police. The five gang members are currently being held in police custody pending their arraignment.
Residents of Mombasa who may have been robbed by the group were asked to go to the Mjambere police station for further police action, according to the Service.
