Dramatic Scenes As Nuns Are Found In Car Loaded With Bhang But DCI Distances Them Away From Drugs

A vehicle loaded with cannabis sativa was impounded by detectives as it was making it way into Nairobi county.

The marijuana is said to be in 13 bales and it was recovered from a vehicle that had four occupants from malaba.

The DCI says that three of the passengers were Catholic missionaries from the Benedictine sisters.

However, there were nuns who had boarded the vehicle but the detectives said that the nuns were not connected to the consignment. They had boarded the vehicle as passengers and they were heading to Karen.

“The sisters who were at pains to distance themselves from the drugs explained to the detectives that they had earlier boarded the vehicle at Malaba on the Kenya-Uganda border, paid their fare and the driver was just about to drop them off in Karen, when the detectives flagged down the vehicle,” DCI said.

The detectives also recovered three Jerry cans containing 35 litres of distilled chang'aa.
