In some cases, accidents cause these huge gridlocks that last for hours before the road can be cleared and normalcy resumes on the highways.
Earlier this morning, there was a nasty accident that occured in the middle of the night at Maai Mahiu leading to a huge gridlock.
The motorists have been stuck there for hours with no movement of vehicles being observed leading to a lot of questions as to why the gridlock has been there.
The gridlock, according to an eye witness at the scene, is said to have been caused by a truck that has been involved in accident.
The truck is said to have almost fallen over the escarpment but is hanging on as half of it is still on the highway.
Motorists are being forced to use one lane on the busy highway and this is what is leading to the huge gridlock that is being observed this afternoon ok the busy road.
Motorists have been asked to exercise patience and caution on the road as a solution is found.
