A middle-aged man pretending to be a police officer survived death by a whisker after an angry mob cornered him on Wednesday morning, September,8.
The fake police officer is accused of constantly harassing citizens around Nairobi's River Road area. According to eyewitnesses, the police impersonator has been pestering them continuously, forcefully demanding for money from those flouting Covid-19 rules.
However, the alleged harassment from the police con came to an end when the already fed up citizens confronted him, demanding to see his job card.
When he failed to produce an official document showing his membership to the police service, an angry gathered around baying for his blood.
Fortunately, the impersonator survived lynching by a visibly agitated mob after police officers arrived on time and took him away on a motorbike. The two officers had to shoot in the air to disperse the people.
River Road is one of many areas in Nairobi County synonymous with such incidents.
