According to Citizen, the woman was killed in her house after she was accused of sending away the man's wife two months ago.
Area assistant chief, Pius Ayugi Odoyo, who confirmed the incident noted that the man assaulted the woman when her husband had gone to workplace.
Pius further narrated that the mother of two died on the spot after her left palm was chopped off and deep cuts inflicted on her neck.
Her body has since been moved to Rachuonyo sub county hospital awaiting postmortem.
Following the barbaric incident, angry residents incinerated the man's house after he took to his heels.
A manhunt has been launched by police officers in Rachuonyo, Homabay county in an effort to arrest the man.
This comes a month after a woman succumbed to serious injuries after being hacked to death by her ex-boyfriend in Machakos county.
