Douglas Kagai, a thirty-year-old man based in Eldoret landed himself in trouble after being accused of holding captive a 15-year-old Schoolgirl and sleeping with her severally for ten months and finally left her pregnant.
Kagan who works as a watchman in the streets of Eldoret is said to have taken the minor in 2019 and slept with her between 8th April 2019 and 29th February 2020. Before Eldoret law courts on Wednesday, the girl revealed that Kagai tricked her that he worked as a police officer and promised to help her secure a job at Eldoret Police station.
Since the promises sounded so sweet, the minor opted to run away from their home, she also stated that she faced mistreatment while at home. Before meeting her defiler, the girl used to seek hostage at a local church in Eldoret. Kagan took the minor, slept with her severally, and locked her inside his Kamukunji house when he went to work.
Since the house had no toilets inside, the man used to let her relieve herself in the morning and at night when nobody could have a glimpse of her existence. However, it did not stay for long before neighbors knew what was happening, they raised an alarm and the man was held captive.
Before Richard Odenyo, the principal magistrate at Eldoret law courts, Kagai denied having committed the crime. Following the incident, Kagai was put behind bars at Eldoret prison after failing to raise the required bond. The girl on the other hand was taken to Huruma Children's Rescue center for further medication. The case was scheduled to be heard again on 18th May 2022.
