Latest Update on Agnes Tirop's Murder Case

On Tuesday, Ibrahim Rotich denied killing his wife, and prolific athlete Agnes Tirop before magistrate Reuben Nyakundi at Eldoret High court.

Rotich was declared fit to stand trial after a mental assessment report from the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) indicated he was fit to stand trial.

Rotich sought bail after denying the accusations, however, the court directed he be remanded at the Eldoret G.K prison till December 1 when the court will give directions on his bail application.


Mr Rotich is accused of killing Tirop on October 13th, after her body was found with stab wounds while in her house at Rural Estate in Iten.

The suspect, who is said to be Tirop's husband was arrested on 15th October , with reports saying he was looking to escape to a neighbouring country after the incident.

Family members and Kenyans called on the government to bring to book those behind the death of the athlete.
