The road sign has been vandalized several times, on the latest incident, car tyres and old magazines were pulled on the road sign and a fire was lit to burn it down.

The 2010 constitution donated powers to county governments to give names to streets and other landmarks, Nairobi county renaming Dik dik to Francis Atwoli road was just a way of exercising its powers. It is not clear if the COTU boss influenced the process as at some point he hired security guards to man the sign post.
