Joseph Kebenei, a 60-year-old man, was beaten near death by locals in Mau, Mawe Mbili, when he went to check on his land. According to the report, Kebenei lived in town and drove his Toyota Probox to his farm, where he saw another man cultivating it named Charles Cherogony. When Kebenei questioned Charles about why he was farming his property, the latter yelled and hurt him.
locals banded together and severely assaulted the accused landowner, who was later rescued from the incident by a good Samaritan. He was brought to the hospital because he was bleeding profusely. Later, the local set fire to Kebenei's car, which was completely destroyed.
The Director of Criminal Investigation DCI confirmed the incident, revealing that the villagers used a heap of dry leaves to set fire to Kebenei's car. However, the suspects were apprehended by an officer from the Elburgon Police Station awaiting charges.
