A female police officer is nursing serious injuries after a vehicle hit her while on duty.
The cop was on duty and had been deployed to guard a local bank at Kagio trading centre in Kirinyaga County when the unfortunate incident took place.
The Toyota Probox was heading from Sagana to Kagio when the driver lost control of it, veering off the road.

The officer sustained serious injuries on her head and both legs and was rushed to a local hospital in Kagio. She was later transferred to Tenri Hospital in Embu where she is currently undergoing treatment.
A manhunt for the driver who fled the scene has been launched. Police also ordered the motorist to either surrender himself or face dire consequences
Police officers are investigating the incident to arraign the driver of the vehicle in court and charge him with breaking traffic rules. They said the matter will not be treated lightly.
