A cloud of grief is hanging in Gware village in Uriri Sub-county after a 30-year-old motorbike rider committed suicide over what was termed as his wife cheating on him. The rider is said to have found the wife with her lover in a local pub before resolving to killing himself.
Godfrey Karani's lifeless body was found hanging in his house yesterday. Peter Njoroge, The Uriri Sub-county Police Commander, confirmed the case saying that neighbours became suspicious of him staying in the house for a whole day without coming out for his daily work.
Karani had locked the house from inside and the police had to break into it where they found him dead. A sisal rope was found tied around his neck. Residents said that Karani learnt of his wife having good time with her lover in a nearby club. He rushed to the bar only to confirm his friends' allegations as true.
In the club, he had to struggle with security officers who initially had denied him entry into the club's premises. It is after confirmation that he decided to take his life. His body was moved to Migori County Referral Hospital awaiting further investigations.
