Kenyans Warned to Stay On The Lookout as Occasional Storms Are Expected In The Mentioned Counties

Kenyans living in some parts of Kitui, Makueni and Taita Taveta, Lamu and Kilifi counties have been warned to stay on the lookout as strong isolated storms are expected over several parts of the mentioned counties.

In an alert released by the Kenya Meteorological Department through Facebook, heavy rainfall is likely to continue over several parts of Highlands East of Rift Valley, the South Eastern Lowlands,the coastal region, parts of the Highlands West of Rift Valley, Lake Victoria Basin, Central and South Rift Valley and North Eastern parts of the country.

Other places that are likely to receive occasional isolated storms are Lamu, Kilifi, Tana River,Kitui, Makueni, Kajiado, Nairobi, Nyeri, Kiambu and Murang'a. Precaution should be taken especially for those Counties that have already witnessed heavy rains and storms.

Farmers are also advised to grow short season maturing crops like cowpeas whose nutritive value is high and tolerant to harsh weather conditions. Also farmers are encouraged to grow orphan crops.
