The government has confirmed that a section of Kenyans across the country is set to receive a monthly stipend of not less than Sh3000.
The Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Public Service and Gender, Professor Margaret Kobia, on Tuesday said the government has already set aside Sh1.2 million since the month of October started and is now looking upon distributing the cash to Kenyans.
She noted that categories of Kenya sn set to receive the money are those affected by drought, who are living in miserable environments and those who are on the verge of sinking into famine
She noted that 369,000 vulnerable families from affected counties, and more than 734,119 people who also staring at danger.
The CS noted that the amount will help the family buy food and other basic needs.
"As a way of dealing with this drought, the government and other drought relief agencies will ensure that every family receives 3,000 shillings a month, a move that will ensure that every affected citizen is provided with food and other basic necessities to sustain their lives," she said while in a meeting in Nairobi
