At least three people have been confirmed dead and one gravelly injured after a ghastly road accident involving a lorry and a tuktuk along Kwale-Mombasa highway near Kombani that occurred on Tuesday morning, reports Radio Kaya.
Confirming the incident, Kwale County Police Traffic Joseph Kanyiri noted that the accident occurred when the lorry ferrying gas cylinders was trying to overtake a tuktuk before ramming into an incoming tuktuk.
The driver of the lorry has since been arrested as the police conduct investigations to establish the cause of the accident.
Due to the heavy rainfall being witnessed in some parts of the country, Joseph has urged drivers to be on the lookout while going about their business.
At the time of publishing, the three bodies had been taken to Kwale mortuary while the passenger who escaped death by a whisker was rushed to the hospital for treatment.
Road accidents have been on the rise in the recent past.
