While confirming the incident Marakwet West sub county OCPD John Matasi said he was notified yester evening by Salome Kisang that a body of a middle-aged man has been found in Cheptulon forest, where officers from Kapsowar DCI office rushed to the scene and confirmed the incident.
Matasi said that the deceased together with his friend were going on with illegal logging of cedar before an adjacent Elgon teak tree fell on him, claiming his life on the spot.
Local residents said that the man might have been died while trying to make ends meet, due to the current state of economy, which has raised the cost of living.
The body of the man who has not been identified, has been taken to Kapsowar Mission Hospital Morgue awaiting postmortem.
