The ongoing road work in Mombasa road has resulted to serious road congetsion. The minister for Transport Hon. James Macharia has aired his voice on the issue which has been a thorn in the motorists flesh each passing day. As the road work enter a new phase orders have been made to ensure efficiency.
Some lanes of the Mombasa road have continued to be closed despite contractors moving away from the site to other regions. An order to reopen the road will be a big relief to motorists who spend hours in the road as they navigate the heavy congestion.
The ministry has further ordered the contractor to always avail alternative routes whenever they are working on a section likely to block the major highway. A possible linkage between Mombasa road and Waiyaki way has been thought to be the possible linkage which will ease the situation.
At General Motors the contractor will now be forced to provide a ln alternative way for the foot road users before bringing down the footpath.
