A thug was killed after he robbed Githurai businessman at gunpoint. The robber was shot dead on the night of Friday, March 4, in Githurai.
A statement shared by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) showed that the thug and his accomplice were on a motorbike before they confronted the businessman as he was opening the gate at his home.
The thug ordered the businesssman to empty all his pockets as he pointed his firearm at him. He ransacked his pockets and made way with his mobile phone and other valuables. The robbers fled the scene as the businessman raised an alarm prompting nearby police officers on patrol to respond to his distress call.
A swift response by the officers was an unpleasant surprise to the two thugs, as they came face to face with the officers based in Kasarani.
A breif chase ensued before one of the thugs disembarked from the motorbike, turned back and attempted to attack an officers.
One of the officers immediately opened fire fatally wounding the suspect as his accomplices took flight.
Police recovered a loaded Ceska pistol and a mobile phone from the thug.
His body was moved to mortuary pending identification and postmortem.
