According to TV47KE, the headteacher was rushing to his school, to get ready for exams as they come to a close today.
It's alleged the hippo closed the road at a blind spot making it hard for the teacher to slow down.
He badly rammed the hippo head-on killing it on the spot, his vehicle was also badly wreaked.
Motorists and residents who toured the scene helped him out of the vehicle, he was running to the nearby health care where he is recuperating.
Of later Kenyans have been waking up to scary scenes of loved ones who have succumbed to some bizarre accident along the highways.
Most of these deadly accidents have been caused by some overspeeding drivers who gave a deaf ear to the set road rules and guidelines.
Alcohol has also been a major contributor to some horrible road accidents along the highways.
Police officers have been urging to slow down if necessary to avoid such bad collisions as the rainy season starts.
