The shopkeeper identified as William Limo ,38, a Teresia village, Chepterwai sub Location resident that while in his shop at about 1100 hrs, two security officers in uniform and two civilians pretending to be from Mastermind Tobacco Limited,went to his shop. They allege to be on the radar for counterfeit Mastermind cigarettes.
They never found the cigarettes and he was later handcuffed. He was robbed off Ksh. 160,000/=.
He later raised an alarm attracting the attention of the residents who responded to his distressed calls and saved him in the process.
The security officers are reported to have fired one round of ammunition and they rushed to Chepterwai police line where they filed the complaint.
Police cops from Chepterwai police line raced to the scene and discovered a car Toyota Noah silver model of registration number plate KCA 479P at the scene.
The security officers were from Turbo police line in Uasin Gishu County and they had checked with boss OCS who also toured the scene. As the crowd turned rowdy, the SCPC Nandi North was notified and visited the scene. The crowd was dispersed and later he toured Chepterwai police line and saw the two officers and the two men, one of them being the driver of the alleged motor vehicle. The alleged police officers were disarmed off their G3 firearms ; balls of Police constable Evans Odhiambo.
The two men are still undergoing interrogations by police who want to establish whether they really came from Mastermind Tobacco Ltd, however, the two security officers were freed under section 52 of the National Police Service Act to present themselves at Kabiyet police station on 4/8/2021 to record a statement.
