The Kenya Meteorological Department's main work is to facilitate accessible meteorological information and services and infusion of scientific knowledge to spur socio-economical growth and development.
It is mandated to provide useful, timely and accessible information to the general public. This information has been helpful in early warning to individuals, organisations and communities exposed to likely weather hazards.
KMD in conjunction with the ministry of Environment and Forestry has issued the following meteorological information valid from 10th tomorrow to 16th, January 2023.
According to the information, most parts of the country are likely to be sunny and dry.
However, occasional rainfall is expected over some parts of the Lake Victoria Basin, Highlands West of the Rift Valley, Southern Rift Valley, south-eastern lowlands, the Highlands East of the Rift Valley and the Coast during the forecast
DETAILED REGIONAL FORECAST FOR THE PERIOD
The Lake Victoria Basin, the Highlands West of the Rift Valley and the Central and South Rift Valley Regions. (Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia and West Pokot). Morning are likely to be sunny except on Thursday when rainfall is expected over few places. Afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms are expected over few places during the first half of the forecast period.
The Northeastern Regions. (Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa and Isiolo).
Sunny intervals are expected to prevail throughout the forecast period. Nights are likely to be partly cloudy.
The Northwestern Regions. (Turkana and Samburu).
Days are likely to be sunny and nights partly cloudy.
The Highlands East of the Rift Valley including Nairobi County. (Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang'a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka Nithi and Nairobi). Days are expected to be sunny and nights partly cloudy. However, occasional afternoon and evening showers are expected over few places during the first half of the forecast period.
The South-eastern Lowlands Regions. (Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado, Taita Taveta). Occasional morning and afternoon showers are expected over few places during the first half of the fire period as some places remain sunny.
The Coastal Regions. (Mombasa, Tana River, Kilifu, Lamu and Kwale). Morning and early afternoon and night showers are expected over few places during the first half of the forecast period.
