Haki Africa Gives Update On Activist Hussein Khalid's Condition After Accident

Haki Africa has issued a statement on the condition of renowned human rights activist and its executive director Hussein Khalid who was involved in a road accident. In a statement on its social media platforms on Monday, it said that Khalid was recuperating after suffering injuries on his body including cuts. Also involved in the accident were other human rights activists who had been traveling with him when the accident occurred. The statement said that plans were underway to fly Khalid and the others to the capital Nairobi for further treatment. They were on their way to Garissa when the tragedy happened.

"HAKI Africa is happy to report that three of its staff who were involved in an accident yesterday on their way to Garissa are recovering well. 


The Executive Director is recuperating from a fractured rib and finger, the Communications Officer is nursing a neck injury and dislocated shoulder and the Program Officer is being treated for cuts and bruises, " the statement read in part.

The human rights group thanked the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji for according the injured the support that they needed when the accident occurred.


"They are all out of danger and have received good treatment from Alliance and Medina Hospitals in Garissa. Plans are underway to transfer them to Nairobi.


HAKI Africa appreciates the swift assistance by DPP Noordin Haji and his officers from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) who were present to ensure quick treatment, " the statement continued.
