A middle-aged woman found herself in trouble after trying to escape leaving her three-year-old toddler in Kitui town on Tuesday night.

The woman who was not identified immediately left her baby crying and processed to get lost in the dark.

However hawk-eyed bodaboda operators were quick to spot her and stop her.

They accosted her and took her to Kitui police station where she was locked up where she will be charged in court.

"We heard a baby crying and on checking the mother was escaping leaving the kid behind. Some of us stopped her and took her to the police station," said a bodaboda operator.

"We were shocked why a mother would do such a thing, leaving a small child alone at night," he added.

The motive of her actions has not yet been established.

Why do you think the woman escaped leaving her small kid behind.
