Police Officers Escort Agnes Tirop's Body After Thousands of Mourners Turned Out to Bid her Goodbye

Security was beefed up on Friday afternoon when the body of the late Kenyan marathon heroine Agnes Tirop was being transported to her dad's home.

From photos that have since been shared, the body was transported under a heavy heavy security with two outriders leading the convoy of hundreds of vehicles.

When they arrived in Eldoret town, thousands of mourners turned out to mourn the late heroine which gave the security and protocol officers sone hectic time trying to control them.

The late was found dead inside her home which raised questions on the circumstances under which she died yet she had not complained of anything unusual days before her death.

Police have said that Tirop's husband, Ibrahim Rotich, is the main suspect in the murder of the two-time World Championships medallist. He was arrested last week on Friday in Mombasa and has since been in custody awaiting trial.

After a brief prayer session and viewing of the body at the Eldoret Hospital Mortuary, the mourners, led by hundreds of world beaters, took to the streets of Eldoret in a procession that lasted close to two hours.
