The entry of Kinatwa Matatu Sacco back to the Kenyan roads follows an agreement between the conflicting matatu operators and the county government of Kitui where the sacco is deeply rooted. Yesterday was a great day as the vehicles subsidized the fare prices into different destinations.
One of the Matatu belonging to the sacco has been involved in an accident along the Machakos Kitui road. According to an eye witness the Matatu lost control while negotiating the sharp corners of Kaseve. This made it very out of the road knocking down two pedestrians, one of whom has passed on while being moved to Machakos level 5 hospital. According to sources from the hospital the other patient is admitted but not in a critically condition.
The box Matatus are known for their speed. Though known to be the best in the region their speed has made them get involved in several deadly accidents. The Matatu has been towed to Machakos central police.
