With barely six days remaining to the end of March-April-May Rainfall season, the Kenya Meteorological Department through Director of Meteorological Services Dr David Gikungu, continue to warn Kenyans staying over the Highlands West of the Rift Valley to brace for heavy rainfall starting 25th-29th May 2022.
According to the five days weather update that the Department shared on their official website meteo.go.ke, most parts of the Lake Victoria basin alongside the Central Rift Valley and South Rift Valley are likely to receive the same amount of rainfall. However, only a few areas in the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, the Coast and North-western Kenya are expected to receive rainfall within the next five days.
The KMD, a body mandated with a task to disseminate timely and early warning on weather and climate information in the country, however establish that the rest of the country is likely to be generally dry within the mentioned dateline.
Meanwhile, the amount of rainfall is likely to reduce as this rainy season closes in to its end. This aims at paving ways for crop harvesting particularly to the farmers who did the timely planting with the first drops of rainfall at the start of March. Will this either way affect your crops negatively or positively?
