Blogger Edgar Obare is in police custody after he was arrested by DCI detectives for allegedly trying to extort Ksh 10 Million from Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua. According to DCI, the renowned 'Tea Master' allegedly coaches ladies to stalk prominent Kenyan personalities among them politicians, businessmen, and clergymen.
Edgar was arrested alongside a lady called Desy Oduor Achieng, who alleged that she was coached by the controversial blogger to stalk Governor Mutua and fake pregnancy to extort money from him.
Edgar's arrest has sparked a lot of reactions on social media after DCI referred to him as a serial fraudster. KTN anchor Ben Kitili is among notable prominent Kenyan personalities who commented on Edgar's arrest.
Taking to his Twitter page, Kitili revived a tweet that he had posted in May last year accusing Edgar of being biased when publishing his juicy scoops. Kitili had claimed that the popular 'Tea Master' is fond of presenting one-sided stories with half-baked proof and warned him that he might land in trouble.
"The thing with the Edgar Obare type of 'exposes' is that it's poorly done journalism. One-sided stories, half-baked proof, more trolling than truth. Yet he's using that to break homes, defame and maybe make money. Is he using spy software? I hope he has read the cyber crimes act, '' Kitili posted on Twitter a year ago, causing uproar among KOT(Kenyans On Twitter).
Ben says that he now feels vindicated after Edgar was arrested on Thursday evening since he had cautioned him and advised him to familiarize himself with cybercrime acts.
This is what he tweeted after news of Edgar's arrest emerged.
Here's how Kitili followers reacted to the tweet.
