A hoisting machine collapsed at a construction site in Kilimani, Nairobi, killing at least seven people.
Augustine Nthumbi, the regional police chief, verified the event on Thursday afternoon, saying a rescue operation was underway at the construction site, which is direct across from the Silver Springs Hotel.
Kilimani DCIO Stephen Ole Tanki stated that fatalities had been reported, but he would not say how many.
The hoisting equipment disintegrated, ejecting the workers off the construction site. After that, the crane thudded against the ground, trapping numerous people, according to an eyewitness.
Ambulances, police, and first-aid personnel had arrived at the location at the time of publication.
The search and rescue process is still ongoing making it hard to reveal the exact number of casualties who suffered the accident. Members of the public have crowded the entrance of the ZJCC construction company along Argwings Kodhek Road in Kilimani, Nairobi to witness and help in the rescue mission.
