Police officers in Trans Nzoia County are probing a case where their 35-year-old colleague allegedly died by suicide.
The officer, since identified as Constable Sam Mwebi.
Mwebi who hails from Kisii, was attached to Mutangale police station in Kiminini.
The officer was found dead in his house within the police line following a search after he failed to report to work. Further reports show that the officer did not leave behind any note detailing the reasons for his action.
Police sources reveal that Mwebi tried to shoot himself on Thursday but was restrained by his seniors. Following the incident, the officer is said to have vowed to kill himself in a different way.

Mwebi had allegedly separated from his wife and two children after a domestic feud. His close friend said Mwebi was also troubled by the deaths of his four brothers and condition of his ailing mother. However, he did not show any form of distress prior to the act.
