The Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) has finally let the cat out of the bag by disclosing the amount of money that outgoing IEBC head Wafula Chebukati used to take as his basic pay and home allowance, just one day before he officially quits his job.

According to SRC, every time Mr. Chebukati went to the bank to deposit his monthly check, he did so with a broad grin on his face since he knew he was getting a substantial sum.
Mr. Chebukati's old monthly compensation was KSh554,400 (which included a KSh200,000 home allowance). In addition, he got a pay increase of KSh169,600 due to a market adjustment. You have to agree that it's very tasty.
Chebukati's previous annualized gross salary was KSh924,000. This is the amount he received before taxes and other deductions were taken out.
The salaries of Commissioners Prof. Abdi Guliye and Molu Boya for the six years they served are also shown in the screenshot above.
