Prepare For Heavy Rains in The Next Seven Days if You Live in These Mentioned Areas

Rainfall have continued over several places being of advantage to sectors especially agricultural sector. With the earlier forecast information, farmers have been able to make relevant business decisions. Forecasts can help them plan for the many day-to-day decisions. These decisions include crop irrigation, time to fertilize, and what days are suitable for working in the field. The decisions that farmers make will result in a profitable crop or failure.

Kenya Meteorological Department has been working tirelessly to provide the meteorological and climatological information right on time to give early warnings to the entire public including organisations.

DETAILED REGIONAL FORECAST FOR THE PERIOD

The Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin and the Central and South Rift Valley (Kisii, Nyamira, Trans-Nzoia, Uasin-Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Nandi, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, West-Pokot, Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Busia, Migori, Baringo, Nakuru, Narok and Laikipia Counties): Mornings are likely to be generally sunny with a possibility of occasional rains occurring over few places. Afternoon showers and thunderstorms are likely to occur over few places. Nights are likely to be partly cloudy. Maximum (day-time) temperatures are likely to range from 24°C to 32°C while minimum (night-time) temperatures are expected to be between 09°C and 19°C.

North-western Kenya (Turkana and Samburu Counties): Days are expected to be generally sunny and nights partly cloudy. Maximum (day-time) temperatures are likely to range from 25°C to 38°C while minimum (night-time) temperatures are expected to be between 12°C and 28°C.

The Highlands East of the Rift Valley (including Nairobi County) (Nyandarua, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang'a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka-Nithi and Nairobi Counties): Days are expected to be generally sunny and nights partly cloudy. However, occasional morning cloudiness with light rains as well as afternoon and night showers are likely to occur over few places. Maximum (day-time) temperatures are likely to range from 21°C to 31°C while minimum (night-time) temperatures are expected to be between 06°C and 17°C.

North-eastern Kenya (Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa and Isiolo Counties): Days are expected to be generally sunny and nights partly cloudy. However, occasional morning rains as well as afternoon and night showers are likely to occur over few places. Maximum (day-time) temperatures are likely to range from 26°C to 38°C while minimum (night-time) temperatures are expected to be between 17°C and 25°C.

The South-eastern lowlands (Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Kajiado and Taita-Taveta Counties): Days are expected to be generally sunny and nights partly cloudy. However, occasional morning rains and night showers are likely to occur over few places during the first half of the forecast period. Maximum (day-time) temperatures are likely to range from 25°C to 35°C while minimum (night-time) temperatures are expected to be between 13°C and 22°C.

The Coast (Mombasa, Tana-River, Kilifi, Lamu and Kwale Counties): Days are expected to be generally sunny and nights partly cloudy. Maximum (day-time) temperatures are likely to range from 31°C to 33°C while minimum (night-time) temperatures are expected to be between 22℃ and 26°C.
