Today, reports have emerged on a major announcment that the government of Kenya has made ahead of the Christmas festivities. As reported by the TV 47 Kenya, the goverment through the principal secretary of Internal security Dr Raymond Omollo has announced the nationwide crackdown on illicit alcohol and drugs during the christmas season effective from today.
Talking in Nairobi, Dr Omollo said the this move by the government is aimed at reducing harm caused by the illicit alcohol and drugs during this season. However, Omollo said that the government is not against the licenced alcohol. The crackdown is timely.
"The government on Wednesday, December 14 declared a nationwide crackdown on counterfeit alcoholic drinks and drugs ahead of the Christmas and New Year holidays. In a statement sent to newsrooms, the Ministry of Interior says the operation will involve the National Police Service (NPS), and the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Druge Abuse (NACADA)." Said the reports.
