Four People Burned to Death on Suspicion of Bewitching a High School Student In Kisii county

Death followed four residents of Bomokana village in Kitutu Chache, Kisii County after being accused of bewitching a high school student. Police officers in Kisii have arrested four suspects in connection with the killings.

The three victims were killed after a 17-year-old high student who mysteriously lost his hearing ability recovered and the residents claimed that they had bewitched him. One of the residents showed a video clip of of residents gathering next to charred remains of the three people who were killed over allegations of practising witchcraft in the area.

According to Kisii Deputy County Commissioner, he said that, “Ilikuwa ni kitendo so unfortunate, wananchi wameamka wakasema ni wachawi wakaweza kuwavamia, tumechukua hatua na ku-arrest watu wanne lakini bado tunatafuta wengine,”

In addition, he also warned the kisii residents fro taking the law on their hands and to report any suspected witch doctor to the law where he/she would face the law. The bodies of the deceased were moved to Kisii level 6 hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem examination.
