Two people killed in a deadly accident as tractor plunges into a river

Cases of accidents are on the rise in the country. Some caused by reckless driving, others due to bribes and others due to vehicles mechanical problems.

Two people have lost their lives after a tractor ferrying sugarcane plunged into River Sise on the Tembwo-Kapkures road in Bomet County.

It is alleged that both the driver and co-driver of the ill-tractor lost their lives on the spot.

The driver lost control of the tractor as he approached River Sise bridge, rammed some vehicles before the vehicle veered off and plunged into the river.

Residents managed to rescue one person who was rushed to hospital for treatment.

The bodies of the victims were taken to Ndanai Mortuary.

According to police reports, atleast 60 people have been killed and scores injured in road accidents since January 1, 2022.

By the end of 2021, some 4,579 people had been killed in accidents in the country.

Motorists have been advised to always be careful to avoid some of the accidents witnessed on our roads on a daily basis.
