Joseph Kimathi, a 42-year-old man from Ruguti village, Igambang'ombe sub-county in Tharaka Nithi county left locals in a sombre mood after his body was discovered dead in his house. The man is said to have hanged himself on grounds that his wife knowingly slept with another man despite being in a relationship with her.
According to the deceased mother, before his death, he was not in good times with his wife Regina Kawira. The family members took the effort of settling their matters endlessly until they could not do it anymore. On Saturday 24th September 2022, a day before the nasty ordeal, the couple spent the better part of the day at Itugururu market where the man ran a barber shop. The two however seemed to be on bad terms.
On his arrival home, the man asked his mother if her phone had sufficient airtime that could enable him to reach his wife who was not picking up his calls. The kids prepared supper as they retired to bed. At 3 am, one child raised an alarm saying that the father wanted to kill himself, their grandmother however said that their father could not do that as she ordered them to continue sleeping.
For another time, the child woke up his granny and this time round tears ran down his cheeks, he alarmed the uncles who only found him dead.
