"Aligongwa Kwa Kichwa Akafariki" KPLC Pole Falls Knocking an Old Woman to Death Along the Road

Mwariki village in Nakuru East is mourning the death of an elderly woman, aged 65 years who died after a power pole fell on her. According to details, the electricity pole was being replaced when it fell, hitting the old woman on the head killing her on the spot.

The incident was confirmed by Eric Wanyonyi who is the Nakuru East Deputy County Commissioner. Wanyonyi said that they are probing the incident to ascertain how the woman passed away.

A resident of Mwariki village identified as Francis Kareu who is also a church elder said that the woman was on her way to Mwariki trading centre when the pole collapsed. Francis also revealed that the woman was identified as Reginah Wangari

While narrating how the incident occurred, Kareu said that there were people cutting down an electricity pole near the road and that is when the pole fell and knocked the 65-year-old woman on the head.

The church elder lamented that those who were cutting the pole did not put any warning sign along the road. The passers-by were therefore not alerted of the ongoing work and this led to the death of the woman leaving Mwariki village in deep mourning.
