Chiefs and their assistant chiefs have been put on the spotlight in ensuring that illicit liquor is eradicated from villages across the country so that people can concentrate on economic activities that can sustain them for the long term.

This evening, according to reliable reports from Citizen TV News, five people lost their lives in Kirinyaga after taking illicit liquor and some meat as per the reports.

The five, who were eating and drinking at a local watering hole, are said to have lost their lives under unclear circumstances after consuming the drinks.

The five bodies are currently in the morgue as police begin their investigations into the deaths of the five men earlier on today at a place that is known as Karuku Village.

Residents who were angered by the turn of events asked the government to step in and help them eradicate the local drinks in the area that have claimed many lives.
