Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has proposed big towns in Mount Kenya Region to be allowed to have only one Bar and Restaurant business, in order to reduce alcohol addiction to the children of that region arguing that the region risks losing a whole generation to alcohol.
Speaking during a meeting in Kiambu County as quoted by Citizen television, Gachagua has urged Mt Kenya Region governors to just licence one business in every big town to operate as a Bar and Restaurant not every kiosks which ends up selling alcohol to children.
He argued that the Governors in the region have licenced almost every kiosks as Bar and Restaurant, which ends up selling alcohol the whole day which are destroying the lives of Mount Kenya Region children just because they are looking for revenue.
"Governor Wamatangi please and all the governors of this region, you cannot licence each and every outlet as a bar and restaurant just because you want revenue. You cannot source for revenue at the expense of out children that's unacceptable. Let us have just one Restaurant in every big town to operate as a Bar and Restaurant." He said.
