In Oyombe village, Migori County, the body of a man who vanished in Rongo was discovered on Monday.
32-year-old Fred Ochieng vanished on December 26, 2022.
Nancy Akoth, the husband's wife, claims that she last saw her husband alive on the day in question when she left him at home to go to a family member's funeral.
After the burial, I came home four days later, but I didn't see him there. A few days later, his body was discovered in the river, according to Akoth.
"When I left the house, my husband was in great spirits. He even asked me for some Sh100, which I gave him before leaving," she continued.
"I believed he might have gone to see some of our relatives in the nearby villages," she said, "only to hear the alarming information that his corpse had been recovered in the river."
The dead may have drowned while attempting to cross the river, according to Mr. Maurice Otieno, the deceased's brother.
We believe that my brother may have slipped and fallen into the river since he enjoyed drinking, said Otieno.
People in the public who were crossing the river came across the deceased's body.
Mr. Charles Owuor, an elder from Oyombe village, verified the occurrence and said that they were investigating it with the help of the police from Rongo Sub County.
The morgue at Rosewood Nursing Home in Rongo received the corpse.
