Eldoret town is one of the towns in Rift Valley, it is yet to be declared a city due to its continuous increase in size, business and generally contributing heavily in tax collection. Earlier today, street boys and hawkers painted black the image of Eldoret town as they engage with county Askaris.
It is said that Eldoret County police were trying to maintain the order in the town as the riot begun. Street boys and hawkers were among looters in the supermarkets, a clear video shows mob going into Eldomatt supermarket and picked valuable items, those caught on camera were carrying a generator from Eldomatt supermarket but after a serious engagement they left the generator and flee.
Netizens have had their say on the matter including blaming the current Uasin Ngishu governor, Chelilim. They compare the time of Governor Jackson Mandago as being orderly than the current County leadership. Others equates the people's act of stealing supermarkets to the drought (hunger) being experienced in the country. Below are some of the comments.
