Nairobi residents will have to embrace and prepare themselves to go without water in the next few days.

Through a notice to Nairobi residents, the Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company yesterday gave information cautioning Nairobi residents of water shortage following the shutdown of the Ngethu treatment plant.

The plant that serves as a major supplier of water to Nairobians, was shut down to facilitate repairs of a major water leak on one of the two raw water pipelines from Chania River - Matara tunnel outfall to Ngethu water treatment plant.

The Nairobi water company advised Nairobi residents especially those in the affected areas, to use the available water sparingly.

The plant shut down will mainly affect the whole of City Centre, University of Nairobi main campus, Coca Cola Factory, Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, EPZ- Athi River, Mlolongo area, Gatundu, and Kiambu towns, areas along Kangundo road, Jogoo road, Mombasa road, Outer-ring road, Thika road, Limuru road and the whole of industrial area.

The water company was not clear how long the maintenance will take but we hope the excess will be done in the shortest time possible.

Below is the notice given by Nairobi Water Company.
