Betty Wangui a mother of two left locals in tears after throwing herself and children into a dam of water and drawned. The incident left her three-year old child escape by a whisker after he cried for help. Unfortunately, her ten years old daughter Blessing Njeri and her mother died as her mother could not let her escape.

The family members and neighbours in Elburgon were left in emotions and grief as they crowded around the dam to witness the unusual demise of the two members. They were left with nothing but tears .

According to the witnesses, they heard a cry of a toddler, when they ran where the incident happened they found a young child who was trying to escape but he could not. Then the woman saved the boy out from the water. After inquiry on what could have happened, the boy said that they were throw in by their mother.

He narrated that his sister tried to escape twice but her got hold of her making her to drown.

According to the mother to Betty Wangui, her sister came back from her matrimonial home in Kakamega last week on Sunday, but appeared depressed. Her health had deteriorated. Her mother said that this might have been due lack of basic needs.

The area chief officer Bethwel Kibe, called upon locals to be patient and bold to face challenges somberly, instead of deaths.
