Sadness engulfed Iten again after a 36 year old man identified as Kadiri Khamisi murdered his 38 year old wife in cold blood following domestic wrangles.
Monica's body was found in a pool of blood outside the couple's home. She had a huge stab wound on the left side of her ribs.
Police recovered a knife which is believed to be the murder weapon from the kitchen.
Monica's body is currently lying at Iten refferal hospital mortuary awaiting a postmortem examination. Khadiri on the other hand is in police custody as investigations continue and will be charged with murder.
The sad incident is the third reported murder case in Iten and it came just weeks after a female athlete was murdered by her Ethiopian boyfriend. The decomposing body of the Kenyan Bahraini athlete identified as Damaris Muthee Mutua was found by the police at a house in Lilies Estate, Elgeyo-Marakwet County. She had visited her Ethiopian boyfriend Koki Fai who lived just a short distance from Iten Police station. Koki Fai called his friends to confess to the henious act before fleeing.
In October 2021, award winning athlete Agnes Tirop was found dead in her bedroom in their home in Iten, Elgeyo Marakwet County. She had multiple stab wounds on her body.
Her husband Ibrahim Rotich aged 41 years is the main suspect in the cold blooded murder.
