Residents brought businesses into a standstill on Tuesday (today), as they were getting rid of the herders who had come to the livestock market in Rumuruti.
The residents blocked the Nyaururu-Maralal road and set fire on motorcycles which were said to belong to the herders.
Some of the residents claimed that the herders were entering their animals in the farms by force making them feed on maize and potato crops.
According to Fredrick Mwangi, one of the businessmen in Rumuruti, the herders have been in the region for close to two weeks and they have been slowly allowing their cattle to invade farms. He added that so far several acres of maize plantation have been destroyed.
The angry residents said that they will not allow what is being Witnessed in Ol Moran to happen in their region.
