Betty Kanja was born and bred in Kiambu. She relocated to Nairobi in search of greener pastures. She was lucky to secure a job as a Supermarket Attendant. There she worked had and was promoted to the position of a cashier at 21 years old.
While working Betty met her first love and they fell deeply or so she thought. After dating for an year and a half the man broke up with her claiming he was in love with someone else. This deeply broke her hurt and she cried a lot. The fact that her ex was also a core worker greatly affected her productivity at work.
The man informed her that he was traveling abroad a day before he travelled. She felt so bitter and wanted to commit suicide by throwing herself down from Githurai stage. Betty felt that this would attract her first love’s attention but it was wrong.
She then decided to go to Qatar where she went through allot of problems. Betty cautions young girls not to make haste decisions and in anger.
