Democratic Republic of Congo Citizens at Goma were treated to a rare scene of a volcanic mountain erupting.
In a video taken by a netizen,Mt Nyirango is seen emitting a huge fire as locals are advised to leave due to the volcanic activities set to take place such as emissions of magma and lava.
Explosive eruptions occur when magma, which is molten rock in the ground, contains gas. These eruptions are so energetic that the magma is pulverized into small rock particles, called volcanic ash and can be ejected towards earth's atmosphere.
On the other side,Thick viscous lava flows, especially those that build a dome, can collapse to form fast-moving pyroclastic flows.
Pyroclastic flows are mixtures of hot gas and ash, and they travel very quickly down the slopes of volcanoes. They are so hot and choking that if you are caught in one it will kill you.
