Did you Know a Governor Who has 13 Research Patents in Science?

The Governor of Kericho county, Prof. Paul Chepkwony, is not only a politician but a Professor of Organic Chemistry previously working at Moi University. He is a respected person in the field of science having made his name in organic chemistry having 13 research patents, six of which are American Patents. A patent is generally protection granted by a national government for an invention in a certain field of research.

A notable patent granted to him by United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is the; Compounds from 14 Kenyan plants, including from the roots of Dovyalis and Clutia Robusta have been characterized and isolated, and their uses are disclosed. Prof Chepkwony is an Alumnae of JKUAT and the University of Nairobi (UON0. He undertook is Bachelor’s Degree and PHD in JKUAT while a Master’s degree in UON all in the field of Chemistry.

He is currently serving his last term as the Governor and political rumors has that he may be gearing up for a Senatorial role come 2022 or he may be contemplating going to the University to continue as Professor of Organic Chemistry.
