God's Provision in times of scarcity ? 2 Kings 4:1-2

THE MYSTERY OF WHAT IS LEFT ?

"The wife of a man from the company of the prophets cried out to Elisha, “Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that he revered the Lord. But now his creditor is coming to take my two boys as his slaves.” 2 Elisha replied to her, “How can I help you? Tell me, what do you have in your house?” “Your servant has nothing there at all,” she said, “except a small jar of olive oil.”

2 Kings 4:1-2 NIV

Brethren, praise Jesus Christ!

The Spirit of God has just stirred up this in me...

Q1: My thanksgiving, does it emanate from abundance or scarce?

Q2: What are some of the things I have always considered insignificant hence never thank God for them?

Well, I have now known that there are many things in my life, God's Blessings, that I never thank God for.

The portion of scripture above is a testament: did the woman value that jar of oil by that answer? No

Do I value what I currently have when I start thinking of thanksgiving - the kids, wife, job, salary (regardless of the amount), parents, eyes, feet, ears, hands, sound mind, place to sleep, food, shoes...-

Instead, I only think of what I feel I deserve and God is yet to release it to me...and so I have nothing to thank God for at all.

I'm cut to the core by this message.!

Look at Naomi in the book of Ruth... She surely acknowledged that she was returning empty when her husband and sons died... And she even told the women not to call her Naomi again! (Ruth 1:20).

But watch this: She had someone by the name Ruth!! That is what she had left!

So Boaz took Ruth and she became his wife. When he made love to her, the Lord enabled her to conceive, and she gave birth to a son. He will renew your life and sustain you in your old age. For your daughter-in-law, who loves you and who is better to you than seven sons, has given him birth.”

Ruth 4:13, 15 NIV

That same Ruth whom Naomi even never considered to be something is now termed more than 7 sons!
