Deputy President William Ruto was on Saturday welcomed by a massive crowd in Migori as he attended a church service in the area.
There were cheers as excited residents run towards DP Ruto’s vehicle to welcome him as some are heard chanting “Hustler”.
DP Ruto alighted from his car as church leaders came to welcome him when the residents run towards him during the Sabbath service at Awendo Central Seventh Day Adventist Church in Awendo, Migori County.
Ruto’s bodyguards quickly formed a barrier to prevent the excited residents from surrounding the DP as they moved closer to try and catch a glimpse of the DP.
The deputy president was escorted inside the small church which had no walls, only an unfinished roof as the crowd followed him inside.
Ruto was directed to where he would sit in front of the church as he sat on a plastic chair as some of the people who came to see the DP were directed to wait outside since it was a small structure.
During the church service, DP Ruto excited the church congregants and the crowd that was outside as he told his personal assistance to hand over a brown envelope to the pastor of the church.
The church celebrated as Ruto revealed what was inside the envelope as he said he was giving the church Sh1 million to help in the construction of the church.
“I have Sh1 million which will assist to build the church. My assistance will give you the money and the remaining work we will come at a later date and see how we can work together,” said DP Ruto amid claps and cheers from the crowd and congregants.
